Difference Between Mechanical Anchor And Chemical Anchor

Jan. 04, 2020

Mechanical anchor bolts and chemical anchor bolts are both types of fasteners currently on the market mainly used for reinforcement. As a new type of reinforcement material that has been continuously developed in recent years, these two anchor bolts have continuously developed a variety of models and products of various specifications, which continue to meet market demand and still exceed supply. Because of their different material principles, there are differences. So what are the differences between the two anchors, and how do you choose them in the project? The following aspects mentioned by the Crack Sealing Adhesive Supplier can help you.

1. Anti-seismic

The screw material of the chemical anchor bolt is slightly inferior in strength level, and the tensile resistance and shear resistance are low. Therefore, the shock resistance level is basically below level 7, while the screw material of the mechanical anchor bolt has higher strength and has stronger tensile ability. Therefore It has strong earthquake resistance which can reach level 8 level. So from the perspective of seismic resistance, mechanical anchors are preferred.

2. High temperature resistance and weldability

As a Chemical Anchor System, the chemical anchor bolt has a relatively low melting point due to the use of chemical raw materials. The high temperature resistance is obviously weaker than the use of mechanical anchor bolts with high melting points of metal materials, and mechanical anchor bolts are weldable, so use more flexibility.

3. Reliability

Because the metal anchor used in the mechanical anchor has better performance, it helps to maintain the fastening force for a long time. However, chemical anchors fail to fully function due to the level of construction personnel and incomplete hole cleaning, which reduces the durability of the fastening force.

4. Construction period

Because the chemical anchor is solidified with chemical materials, it takes a period of curing time, especially in the low temperature environment in winter, and the curing time will be longer, which results in the extension of the construction period. The mechanical anchor is installed and used without waiting, and the construction has nothing to do with the temperature environment, so the construction period is much faster.

5. The way to strengthen

Mechanical Anchor Bolt uses the principle of mechanical key lock for anchor locking. The chemical anchor bolt uses a chemical agent to cement and fix the screw in the borehole of the concrete base material to achieve anchoring of the fixing member.

6. Difficulty of operation

Mechanical anchors are the same as ordinary anchors, and have lower requirements for installers. However, chemical anchors require manual implantation of chemical agents, which will be difficult.

7. Seismic degree

Compared with mechanical anchors, chemical anchors have lower seismic resistance. When subjected to irregular loads such as earthquakes, mechanical anchors will exhibit better anchoring forces. It can avoid secondary disasters caused by house collapse. Only a few mechanical anchors have undergone severe earthquake simulation tests in China, and Nanjing Mankate is one of them.

Therefore, because mechanical anchors and chemical anchors have different characteristics, we should choose them according to different engineering requirements. If you are unsure about which anchor to use, consult Mankate. Mankate has accumulated rich engineering experience in production and sales, and can provide you with professional technical support. Choose Mankate, choose rest assured.
